Though a card game at its core, the story element absolutely feels very Witcher-eque and it's full of the usual political/racial conflicts, difficult decisions and replayability factor Witcher fans know and love.įor the record, gameplay-wise, if you're gonna play on the hard difficulty you should be very mindful of how you spend your resources, since you can't farm them afterwards if you need to create new cards. The writing and art direction is great, the soundtrack is brilliant and made by the same composers who worked on the one for the Witcher 3, and the gameplay is very enjoyable imo (coming from someone who loves Gwent). if you link the 2 games after you finish Thronebreaker (and yes, the linking does work on Steam). Queen Meve As Queen of Lyria and Rivia, Meve is a proud, strong leader gifted with extraordinary intuition. Some will join you as you lead Queen Meve in her quest, others you will have to face on the battlefield. Gwent players have an extra reason to play this - it'll give you extra unique cards, keys, etc. Thronebreaker’s regal tale is cast with rich, multidimensional characters. Not sure I'd recommend this to someone unfamiliar with the Witcher lore, but if you've played the games and especially if you've read the books, you'll most probably like this one too. Criminally underrated Witcher game, probably because the protagonist isn't Geralt this time, but don't let this turn you away from giving it a try. Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is a game that combines RPG, Exploration and Card Battle Mechanics.
